Bright colors. Balloons. An open field. Unexpected gifts. Time spent with a friend. Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens… you get the idea.
Why would we think that these things that gave us joy when we were children will not still give us joy as adults?
Pursue Joy
Ingrid Fetell Lee’s TED Talk on joy really motivated me to move forward to launch Tarts&Crafts. It made me think, “What if people could actively pursue joy, instead of waiting for something good to happen to them?”
Maybe I could call it ‘proactive joy’.
I think creating and teaching and giving are ways that I proactively generate joy for myself. It makes me feel alive.
I can make delicious food and beautiful spaces, and invite people to share those things with me. Because joy seems to be best experienced in community.
So this whole blog is about inspiring you to be proactive about joy. I want to empower you to make and do things that give you joy. And then share those things with your friends and family, so maybe they’ll catch it too. Proactive, contagious joy. Yes!
I feel more joyful already…
