Bake them a pie. Seriously. They will love you.
I mean, there are other ways. But let’s think about what’s most important, okay? My thoughts on how to use pie to benefit yourself and make the world a better place:
Pie as Payment
I’ve used pie to “pay” people- like a barter system- for helping me with my computers, for example. Or even to just ask for a favor. Here is a hypothetical situation, not too far from a real-life scenario for me.
Me: Hey, Sam. I need a huge favor. Would you mind filling in for me at work tonight? Something just came up.
Sam: … [Looks like she doesn’t want to do it but doesn’t have a good reason to say no]
You: How about I bake you an apple pie? Or [insert another fruit that is in season]. I’ll bring it in next week.
Sam: Well, okay. I’ll do it. But you don’t have to bake me a pie, though apple pie IS my favorite. [Translation: I accept the pie as an reasonable barter].
You see what I mean?
Or just share the love
I’ve given people pies for their birthday. Or you can invite some friends over for dinner, and finish the night with a warm, fresh baked pie. You could even go out to dinner, and then go back to your place for homemade dessert. Your friends and family will feel all warm and fuzzy inside because you cared enough to bake them a pie.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention what ‘they say’. ‘They say’ the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Some men really love pie. I’m just sayin.
Share the love! Make someone’s day! Why not? It doesn’t have to be fancy, just delicious 🙂 If you’re not sure where to start, here are some of my pie recipes – apple, apple-cranberry and key lime.
Now go win some friends and influence people. 😉
